Latin Name: Aquilegia formosa 

Western Colombine is known for their upside-down looking, prominent flowers. This plant usually crawls along shaded ground while sending 2-3 feet tall shoots up into the air, giving it a fountain like shape. A. formosa will prefer well draining soil, and as a perennial herb, A. formosa will plant itself in summer and flower red in the spring. The seeds will bring finches and other small birds.
