Rosa californica is a medium, sprawling woody shrub that grows up to 5 feet tall, and spreads through underground stems. Pink flowers in spring and summer. Medium to high water demand. Prefers loamy slower draining soils, in part sun. Partially fall dormant. Flowers preferred by native bees, great for wildlife habitat, and red summer “rose hip” fruit is eaten by birds.
